washing faces
It has been awhile since we have given you an update.
The duckies are doing very well...weathering the winter weather here.
They love their duck house and avairy.
We have not installed a pool or pond right now because of the cold weather.

Here are a few pictures from this morning 12/29/2010

at them and talks with "you"
about MissAdventure, Queenie, and Kouta.

A new video of our six pet duckies

You will get to see their new outside house and the duck avaviry nearly finished.

Oh how we love them!

Dinner time outside
Welsh Harlequin playing in the leaves and acorns.

More outside fun

I brought out the old brooder box just in case they want a place sheltered thinking it might give them a warmer place to sit. But they mostly are have fun playing in the leaves and having the space to properly preen.

Happy Duckies!

preening

2nd field trip

This how wet & dirty their under bellys are from being too close in the brooder box. We need to really limit their time in the brooder box from now on. They are just getting too big to have enough room to stay clean in their box (inside).  MamaDuck and I GrMa Duck are doubling our efforts to replace bedding often and give them as much time outside the brooder box as possible while the DuckHouse is being finished.

Right now, they are foraging and preening and LOVING it outside!  I think as long as someone is home to check on them, we will let them be outside as much as possible.

FWD: From Mama Duck

Their first field trip outside! They love it! :)

--This was taken with my phone camera, mine is officially not working again.  I took them out into Alex and Bianca's old pin which is about 6'x10'.  Their real pin is HUGE in comparison, but we are constructing the house in it right now, so it wouldn't be safe for them to be in there.  Plus, I thought this would be a good introduction to the outdoors.  They LOVED it!!! They were so happy out there!  They were out for about 3 hours while I did some work in the pin and GrpaDuck and I cut down a couple low limbs on a tree right next to their pin.  Hopefully I'll be getting some more pictures off my phone to put up.  :)

Sorry for the lack of updates, life has been busy for the whole flock of us.  Grma Duck's camera died last week and then my (MamaDuck) camera battery died a few days ago and we have to order another one online so it'll be a while before we get it.  :-\
They are getting very big very fast.  All of them have their real feathers coming in.  The pekins aren't looking that great (going through the "ugly duckling" stage), but they'll be pretty in a few more weeks.
We are also going to need to get their house built pretty soon cause in about 2 weeks their going to need to move outside to thier pin.
GrpaDuck built and hung the gate, it looks great.  We are hoping to do the finishing touches on the fence this weekend.

Guess that's all for now.  Hopefully more updates soon.

A note from Gr-Ma Duck:
It was so cute to see little duckie heads stretching over the top of the brooder box this morning when I went down to check on them.  Although they were very unhappy because they spilled the water everywhere then made a BIG wet mess in the brooder box and every little duckie was messy and unhappy about it.  They are now napping in the laundry basket.

It may be time for a larger brooder.  You can't really tell from the pictures posted this morning but they are getting big.
